BIOGRAFIA

Nato a Montovolo di Grizzana Morandi a Vergato (Bologna) nel 1943. Una delle caratteristiche più salienti è la sua permanente presenza come modello rappresentativo nelle sue stesse opere. Si occupa di fotografia, ma è più noto come scultore e ceramista, modalità creative con le quali ha partecipato alla Biennale di Venezia e al Solomon Guggenheim Museum di New York. Ha esposto anche al Centre d’Art Contemporanei e alla Fundació Miró di Barcellona, al Centre George Pompidou di Parigi, al Palacio di Cristal e al Centro de Arte Reina Sofia di Madrid. Inizia la sua carriera nel 1967, con un’esposizione, “Pietra Rossa” presso la Galleria San Petronio di Bologna. Fino ad oggi ha realizzato molte mostre personali in tutto il mondo, soprattutto in Europa e negli Stati Uniti, e ha partecipato a numerosissime mostre collettive internazionali.

He was born in Montovolo di Grizzana Morandi a Vergato (Bologna,Italy) in 1943. He is an Italian painter, sculptor and photographer, a multifaceted artist who expresses himself through various artistic forms. He started his career in 1967, with an exhibit at the San Petronio di Bologna gallery. He has exhibited his works in some of the most important museums and galleries of the world, from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum to the Pompidou Centre, the Museo Reina Sofía to the Frankfurter Kunstverein. He has also participated in several editions of the Venice, Sydney, and Lyon biennales. Recently he has had three important retrospectives at the MoMA (2001), the SMAK in Ghent (2003–2004) and the MAMbo in Bologna (2008). Until today he has realized a lot of privates exhibits all over the world, especially in Europe and in the USA.
